Chiefs & City to tussle for Musonda?

-

Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City are two clubs that are believed to have shown an interest in Black Leopards’ Mwape Musonda.

The Zambian striker was one of Leopards’ most influential players last season, during their PSL promotion-winning campaign, when the former Orlando Pirates forward scored 15 goals. He ended the campaign as the NFD’s joint-top goalscorer with Highlands Park’s Peter Shalulile.

So far, this season, Mus- onda has scored two goals – the first was against the Lions of the North and his second against the Citizens in their last match before the FIFA international break.

The Siya crew has now been alerted to the interest in Musonda from both Amakhosi and the Citizens.

“Musonda’s representatives are working on getting the best possible deal for the player. There have been informal talks with Chiefs and Cape Town City,” said the source.

Prior to the start of the season, Polokwane City and Baroka FC were reportedly interested in the Zambian player, but the forward opted to stay with Leopards with a view of helping them succeed in the top-flight after a five-year absence.

The 28-year-old is believed to be keen on joining another big club in South Africa after the current season, following his unsuccessful stint with Pirates when he first arrived in Mzansi more than three years ago.
