Chiefs keen on Makaringe swap?

-

Kaizer Chiefs look to have already started their plans to beef up the squad in the January transfer window as they plan to rebuild under the guidance of coach Ernst Middendorp.

According to Siya sources, Chiefs are considering a swap deal involving Gustavo Paez in order to try and sign Fortune Makaringe from Maritzburg United. Makaringe has been a long-time target for Amakhosi, and it seems as though they are adamant on landing the highly rated holding midfielder.

At this point in time, it remains to be seen whether the players themselves would be interested in the switch – however, Chiefs’ interest in Makaringe is no surprise given the age of Willard Katsande and recent long-term injury to young Wiseman Meyiwa.

Chiefs are known to be keeping their eyes on the transfer market ahead of the upcoming January transfer window, with Middendorp admitting that they are always on the lookout for talented players to bring to Naturena.

Speaking on the transfer mar- ket recently, according to the club’s official website the German said, “You have to keep your eye on the market every day in case a special player becomes available. At Chiefs if there’s a talent that’s available and willing to join us, we will definitely look at that.”

With just under two weeks to go before the window opens up, Chiefs will now have to reassess their bid if they are to go back to the Team of Choice with an improved offer and continue their pursuit of the 25-year-old Bafana Bafana international.
