Why supporters can’t completely trust clubs

… the denials are not by chance

-

How many times have you heard a Premier Soccer League team deny interest in a player or a coach? Far too often, and that’s become the norm as everyone has got their own agenda. The stakeholders, however, argue that their specific reasons and agendas for denying deals are well founded as the clubs believe that they are protecting their own interests. They naturally put that first. Clubs are always looking to bolster their squads, while players and agents are regularly aiming for better and more lucrative deals. Due to the big money involved in the modern game, the transfer market has become volatile, where millions of rand are at stake. The talk behind the scenes - the Siyagobhoza, as we know it - takes place throughout the year, not just during the transfer window. window The clubs and even the agents want to control the narrative to protect their own interests, and do not want to be embarrassed or lose a deal, which explains why they hold their cards close to their chest up until the final signature - despite the media scrutiny. The deal can fall apart at any point in time, even at the last minute, with some reasons being: transfer fee deadlocks, salary demands, better offer somewhere else and taking in advice from their respective camps. You can expect the cat and mouse game to continue. Clubs, agents and players will naturally deny what is going on, but the media will continue to chase the story. Watch this space!
