We don’t know who’s who
Jwarha – Orlando Pirates supporter
“The most important thing for us as Orlando Pirates supporters is that we have seen a lot of improvement in the performances of our team this year. The fighting spirit is there. Everyone is determined in their work and there is unity. That’s what makes us support the team whether they are playing at home or away. That’s why the team was able to achieve one of its goals, which was to go to a cup final, although we lost in the end. The combinations are working and we are very pleased. We are second on the log going into the Christmas break and that’s not bad. We are happy about the results and we appreciate the effort that our players have put in. The one thing I’ve not been happy about is the way referees treat Pirates. It looks like they are our opposition! We don’t know which fight they are fighting. All we know is that the referees are from SAFA, not the PSL. Now, SAFA is the mother body of football in South Africa. It looks like there is a war between the PSL and SAFA. The way some of the decisions go against Pirates leaves question marks. Even when we win a game, we do so ebunzimeni (after a lot of hard work). The referees really aren’t on our side and it’s a concern among our fans. They are letting us down. The team trains hard the whole week in preparation for a game, only for the referee to spoil things. It’s not good! Even last Saturday, in our CAF Champions League game, some of the decisions against us were questionable – it seems this problem has extended to Africa. We don’t know who’s who. This is killing the morale of our team! Other than that, I would like to wish all our supporters, players and management a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Until we meet again next year!”
