Komphela’s resignation letter, tip of the iceberg…

What the Siya crew has been told…

Steve Komphela’s explosive resignation letter, which was leaked days after he quit Bloemfontein Celtic late last month, is said to be the tip of the iceberg at the ailing club.

There’s not been a denial from club boss Max Tshabalala or chief executive officer Khumbulani Konco on allegations of unprofessionalism by the coach and the reasons why Phunya Sele Sele was close to not honouring their Absa Premiership fixture against Maritzburg United on September 28 at the Dr Molemela Stadium.

In fact, there has been further admission from Tshabalala’s lawyer and cousin, Mandla Tshabalala, that their financial troubles look set to continue.

The letter, which was circulated within the football fraternity, among football administrators and the media, and its contents splashed all over social media has seen Komphela being hailed as a hero for breaking the silence regarding what has really been going on behind the scenes at one of the Premier Soccer League’s most supported outfits.

Komphela, a former national team captain and Kaizer Chiefs coach, lifted the lid on poor management, broken promises and revealed that he – on numerous occasions – had to pay out of his own pocket for maintenance on the club’s training grounds.

He also claimed that he had to enlist the service of independent analysts to prepare for matches against Chippa United, Golden Arrows, Orlando Pirates, Chiefs, Black Leopards, Maritzburg United and Mamelodi Sundowns, but was never compensated by Celtic management.
