“What a crazy character. He liked making jokes and was a straight talker. If he didn’t like something you did or said, he’d tell you straight. I always shared a room with him in camp and we had a great relationship, like he told you. One thing though is that he loved his food. Man, he had quite an appetite, ha, ha, ha. He would wake me up in the early hours of the morning to tell me that he’d prepared tea for me and him. After drinking the tea, I’d go back to bed, but he’d go out of the room and go to the kitchen to ask for food from those ladies, yet it wasn’t time yet for breakfast. What a jolly guy. I still visit him with my family where he stays in Protea.”
