Ngele to fight for his Downs release?

-

Word reaching the Siya crew is that forgotten Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Mogakolodi Ngele will again attempt to leave Chloorkop at the end of the 2018/19 season in a desperate effort to revive his career.

Siya sources have informed the crew that Ngele has made peace with being sidelined and left to train alone for the remainder of the campaign, though he is prepared to even go the legal route to break away in June.

The Botswana international could not secure a move away from Downs before the transfer window slammed shut last week, with indications that the Brazilians were unable to agree terms with any potential suitors.

Ngele, who hasn’t made any appearances for his club so far this season, is understood to have formally requested a loan move last month, but it was denied – forcing him to spend another five months at a club that has rendered him surplus to requirements.

The 28-year-old will see his contract at the club expire at the end of the season, but Sundowns do have an option in place to extend his spell for a further year if they opt to.

An insider suggested that it would be unfair to the player for the reigning Absa Premiership champions to exercise the option and keep the Botswana-born star there for another year, though it will be in their hands.

Expect Ngele, who helped Bidvest Wits win the championship while on loan from Sundowns during the 2016/17 season, to try fight his way out of Chloorkop when the campaign comes to a close.

He joined Downs from Platinum Stars in 2015.
