GOLDEN BOOT CHASER TO GET IMPROVED CONTRACT?

-

In an effort to try and hold on to their leading goalscorer at the end of the season, Black Leopards will offer striker Mwape Musonda a new and improved contract.

Siya sources have informed the crew that the club expects Premier Soccer League rivals to come sniffing around for the Zambian, who currently leads the scoring charts with eight goals so far in this campaign.

Fresh from winning the Player of the Month for December and January last week, the former Orlando Pirates marksman has been in scintillating form – leading the line and his side’s resurgence, which coincided with the arrival of coach Dylan Kerr in November last year.

Musonda is believed to be keen on returning to Gauteng to prove himself again following a failed stint with the Buccaneers several years ago. But, the Siya crew has been told, he still has two more years remaining on his Leopards contract.

It would have to be a generous offer from the club to convince the burly striker to stick around for another season or risk having a disgruntled player by holding him to the initial terms.

Musonda, linked with a move to Amakhosi prior to the start of the 2018/19 season, will feel his value has gone up, as he is now likely to reach double figures on his scoring tally for two seasons in a row. He scored 14 goals in the NFD to help Leopards gain promotion back to the topflight in May last year.
