Sundowns turn attention to SuperSport duo

-

Mamelodi Sundowns are believed to have turned their attentions to signing two of SuperSport United’s brightest young stars and are set to try and push for a move when the next transfer window opens.

According to Siya sources, there has been contact from Sundowns to both Aubrey Modiba and Teboho Mokoena as they look to try and bolster their already impressive ranks, with the young Bafana Bafana internationals having caught the eye with their performances for Matsatsantsa.

There was talk of Masandawana making a move for at least one of the players in the January transfer window, although it is thought that SuperSport quickly shut down the conversation because they were not prepared to let either of them go as coach Kaitano Tembo looks to improve on their Absa Premiership finish from 2017/18.

It could be that their resilience will be tested at the end of the season when the next transfer window opens up; however, they will be buoyed by the fact that 23-yearold Modiba and Mokoena, 21, have long-term contracts with the team from the blue side of Tshwane.

The Siya crew spoke to Glyn Binkin, the representative of both players, l who h says ththatt fifirstt choice h i would be to move outside of South Africa.

He said, “It’s no surprise to hear about interest in Aubrey and Teboho – they’re both fine young players and we see bright futures for both of them, but they’re both fully focused on life at SuperSport. Both are young and ambitious players who have aspirations of playing abroad, so that would be first option for both players if at all possible.”
