PSL INTEREST IN MTHETHWA

-

PSL promotion- chasing Stellenbosch FC’s defender, Sibusiso Mthethwa, has attracted interest from a few top tier clubs in Mzansi.

Mthethwa, who joined Stellies prior to the start of the 2018/19 season after parting ways with Platinum Stars (now Cape Umoya United), has been an influential player for the NFD log leaders that are now favourites to clinch automatic PSL promotion under Steve Barker’s mentorship.

The Siya crew has been informed that the 27-year-old centre-back has attracted interest from both Highlands Park and Golden Arrows, and while the player’s agent confirmed interest, he would not divulge the finer details.

The player’s agent, Ratshibvumo Mulovhedzi, explained, “I can’t deny that there’s been interest in the player from some of the PSL teams that were keen on signing him on pre-contract in January, but we turned them down because of knowing Stellenbosch’s plans for him.

“I cannot mention the names of the clubs because we have turned them down anyway,” confirmed Mulovhedzi.

“The club is happy with Sibusiso and he is happy at the club because he is playing. There is no reason why we should consider moving him away from the club. Furthermore, there is a chance that he can win promotion with the club to the PSL. It wouldn’t have made sense to sign a pre-contract elsewhere.

“Yes, the player’s contract with Stellenbosch will be expiring in June, but he has a bright future with the club,” added the representative.
