Itumeleng Khune

On an individual level, Khune had a steady campaign, not making any outright howlers, but perhaps not doing enough to keep out a couple of early-season strikes. Deon Hotto’s 35-yard strike for Bidvest Wits beat the goalkeeper too easily, which lead to people questioning his form. His save percentage this campaign has dropped from 78.6% to 71.8%, which is likely an indication that he faced far more clear-cut chances for the opposition under Solinas’ very open style of play. He saved a penalty in the first round Soweto Derby, denying Justin Shonga. Since his season-ending injury, Khune’s stock has risen even further due to how much the Soweto giants are missing him. 7.5/10

Virgil Vries

The Namibian was a shock addition after Brilliant Khuzwayo’s departure. At the time, he looked to be the cheapest available option having been released by Maritzburg United and Baroka FC in the last 12 months. Prior to Khune’s injury, Vries had covered with aplomb in cup games and the 1-0 win against SuperSport United in Ernst Middendorp’s first match in charge. However, since taking over as the number one, the pressure seems to have taken a toll on him with three big howlers – letting a ball bounce over his head against Mamelodi Sundowns, allowing a shot squirm under his body against Zesco United and then dropping a cross in the defeat to Cape Town City. These errors prompted Chiefs to sign Daniel Akpeyi from Chippa United on transfer deadline day, and Vries is now likely to return to number two for the rest of the season. 4/10

Bruce Bvuma

The young goalkeeper has only started one match, the 2- 2 draw with Bloemfontein Celtic, when both Khune and Vries were injured. He acquitted himself fairly well in that game. No rating

Daniel Akpeyi

The Nigerian made his debut in the Soweto Derby and had a solid game, where the goal could not be blamed on him. No rating
