Attackers

-

Leonardo Castro

The Colombian striker has had a mixed campaign. He started off in good form, linking up well with former Sundowns partner-in-crime, Billiat. His link-up play was good and he was a regular goal and assist threat. However, he picked up an ankle injury that forced him to miss four weeks and since Middendorp came in, he has had to play a more mobile role, working the channels and defending from the front. His displays in this set-up have been quite disappointing, though he has scored seven goals and added five assists in total this season. He remains a good option, but the fans are yet to see the best of him in the Amakhosi shirt. 6/10

Khama Billiat

The marquee signing started life at Chiefs in superb fashion, contributing six goals and four assists in his first 14 appearances. Since then, his form has dipped significantly. Though he has netted a further five goals, three were against Zimamoto and two were late efforts in the defeats to Zesco. In the PSL, he has just two assists and no goals in his last eight outings. No doubt, he felt the loss of Ntshangase’s killer passes, and with the latter starting again against Cape Town City, Billiat had numerous clear openings but spurned all. Overall, he started amazingly and has been average since then. 7.5/10

Bernard Parker

The veteran had a tough time under Solinas as he was used as a wide midfielder due to Billiat and Castro being the front duo. He had little impact in this role. However, since the new coach arrived, Parker looks fitter and hungrier and has played as a wide attacker in either a 4-3-3 or 3-5-2 formation, working the right channel. He has assisted three goals (all for Ekstein) since the coaching change, as well as scored a fine effort against AmaZulu. 6/10

Ryan Moon

Having scored five goals last season in a breakout campaign under Komphela, he has seen his pathway blocked by the January 2018 signing of Castro and the use of Billiat as a forward. This campaign, he has played just 221 minutes in domestic competitions, starting just once – that was in the 1-0 defeat to Polokwane City, in a game where he offered very little. His only goal came from a header in the win away against Elgeco Plus. 5/10

Gustavo Paez

The Venezuelan striker has had a tough time of it at Chiefs since Castro arrived last January and then Billiat. He has been a bit-part player, scoring just once, against Free State Stars. Solinas started him as a left winger in the draw against Baroka FC and he looked completely at sea, and under Middendorp he has barely made the squad. He looks set for the exit door when his contract expires in June. 5/10
