Chiefs to revisit free Mhango option?

-

Kaizer Chiefs are set to lose one of their foreign strikers at the end of the season, after Gustavo Paez opted not to extend his stay with the club, and they may already have their eyes on a potential target that could be available.

Paez, who will see his current deal expire in June, is expected to move on from Naturena as things stand, with his lack of regular game- time ti thought to be one of the reasons behind his probable exit.

Should the 28-year-old move on from Chiefs, then it will open up a foreign spot in their side that they can then fill with another non-South African, and Siya sources have suggested that Bidvest Wits’ Gabadinho Mhango is back on their radar.

The Glamour Boys have been linked with the Malawian international on numerous occasions in the past as he dropped down the pecking order in Braamfontein, and now – after entering the last six months of his deal – is available as a free transfer at the end of the season.

Godfrey Walusimbi’s exit it llast t month made room for Chiefs to sign Daniel Akpeyi, and their three other spots are taken up by Andriamirado Andrianarimanana, Leonardo Castro and Teenage Hadebe.

The crew did get in contact with Mhango’s agent, Mike Makaab, who explained that he didn’t know of any interest from Chiefs in the 26-year-old at this point in time.
