Return of Pieterse

Siya sources have indicated that another possible swap is that of goalkeeper Pieterse going back to Nat urena. His limited game-time since joining Sundowns at the start of the season to compete with Denis Onyango for the No.1 jersey has opened the door for a possible exit. Insiders informed the crew last month that Pieterse had been a priority signing for Amakhosi during their exhaustive search for a goalkeeper to replace the injured Khune, but settled for Akpeyi instead.

New information is that this deal could be back on the table and could very well be a satisfactory compromise for both clubs.

What is clear is that Chiefs do need a successor to Khune, and with very few keepers able to fill those boots, Pieterse could be that long-term successor.

It will all depend how much the Soweto giants want the keeper, and at what price, should Downs entertain it…
