He owned up to it

Wedson Nyirenda – Baroka FC head coach

“Despite everything that happened, he is a very good boy, very talented and dedicated to his job. I didn’t really have the biggest of problems with him in the team and I think his move to AmaZulu is a big step in his career. What happened in the game against Orlando Pirates… ja, these things happen so often in football and some players do that not because they are looking to show any disrespect to the coach or to the team, but he felt that he had more to give in the game. We felt that he did not do that in the game, and we had to make a deci- sion for the team and he didn’t take that well. At that moment, I think that he thought about himself, forgetting that there were other people watching him and then things were going to be said about him and his character which are not true at all because he is a really good boy. After some time, he realised that he didn’t approach the situation in a good way and he came to me and said, ‘Coach, I am very sorry for what I did.’ He owned up to it and I know that he was angry with himself. When he apologised, it ended there and all was well. He has been there for us and he helped get us results. After we corrected the issue, we focused on our games and made sure that we worked well together. I want to wish him well at AmaZulu and I know that they have a quality player.”
