Denis Onyango

The Ugandan stalwart has had an injury-disrupted campaign, suffering with shoulder and knee problems. He has played just 13 of Downs’ 23 domestic matches this campaign, conceding nine goals. His performances have generally been very strong, although he has made two recent errors leading to goals. Against Highlands Park, he dropped a cross and, in the Nedbank Cup defeat to Chippa United, he failed to claim a corner from which a late winner was scored. As he approaches his 34th birthday, he remains one of the best in Africa. 7.5/10

Kennedy Mweene

Due to Onyango’s injury problems, the Zambian has played much more than last season. In the previous campaign, he started just two games domestically and fell to third choice at times behind Razak Brimah. This season, he was behind Reyaard Pieterse for a spell, but has got himself back to number two, playing seven domestic games with just two goals conceded. He has also played four CAF Champions League games, keeping two clean sheets. Mweene remains a very dependable, composed back-up. 7.5/10

Reyaad Pieterse

He arrived to give some fresh blood to an ageing goalkeeping department, and to ensure that when Onyango starts to show his age, a replacement is ready. He has not had many opportunities, starting just four times this season. On his debut against AmaZulu, he made a howler as he failed to claim a cross, and he over-committed for another error in Sundowns’ 2-0 Telkom Knockout loss to Baroka FC. He has not played a game since 7th November, despite Onyango spending much of that time injured. He will need to make a big improvement if he is to challenge for the number one jersey in years to come. 5/10
