Jeremy Brockie

The Kiwi striker has had a frustrating season with spells completely out of favour and plenty of opportunities at other times. He started the first four games of the season, failing to score but winning a penalty against Chiefs. He then played just 36 minutes in the next seven matches as Mahlambi and Silva were preferred to him. After that came a run of nine starts in a row, scoring four goals albeit two were against Leones Vegetarianos and one was clearly an own goal credited to him against Al Ahly Benghazi. He has since started just one of the last nine games, failing to make the squad at all in the last three. Downs moved to sign Tade and have used Morena up front and Maboe as a false nine in preference to Brockie of late. His performances have been very disappointing, and he simply does not appear to suit the Sundowns style of play or are Downs not playing to his strengths. 5/10

Phakamani Mahlambi

The R13.2m signing arrived with big expectations, but Mosimane tempered any demands by describing the speed merchant as “very, very raw”. So far, the coach has looked right. Mahlambi scored on his Sundowns debut against AmaZulu but took four months to net again, against Chippa. He has started just seven matches all season and has played the full 90 minutes just twice. His performances have been lively at times, but also lacking refinement and interplay with teammates. The best of him in a Downs shirt will probably be seen in a season or so to come. 5/10

Jose Ali Meza

The speedy Venezuelan forward has had a tough time adjusting to life at Sundowns. He started the season getting regular minutes as a hard-working winger, playing from the start on four occasions. He assisted one goal in those outings. His involvement has dried up in recent months though, with just 22 minutes in the last eight PSL matches. He scored late goals as a substitute against both Leones Vegetarianos and Al Ahly Benghazi in the CAF Champions League preliminary rounds, but that has not seen his chances of minutes increase since then. 6/10

Cuthbert Malajila

The Zimbabwean has spent almost all of this season on the treatment table with a knee injury. He came on for a one-minute appearance against Highlands Park but is a long way down the pecking order. No rating

Emiliano Tade

The Argentine arrived from AmaZulu having impressed with his goal-scoring, dribbling, chance creation and long-range shooting at Usuthu. He has so far made three substitute outings for Masandawana, but already has one goal and one chance created to his name in his promising few minutes on the field. No rating
