SCOTT SIGNS WITS EXTENSION

-

One of Bidvest Wits’ midfielders has put pen to paper on a one-year extension with the club.

Granwald Scott, who returned to the Premier Soccer League after his stint with Slovakian side Slovan Bratislava, has had his stay with Wits extended, with Siya sources revealing that he will remain at the club until, at least, the end of the 2019/20 season.

However, sources have added that Wits do have another one-year option set in place, and it is believed that the club will look to exercise the option at the end of the year.

Scott has lifted three trophies during his time with Wits, so far, playing a part in their Absa Premiership title and MTN8 trophy win in the 2016/17 season as well as in their 2017 Telkom Knockout-winning campaign.

With coach Gavin Hunt known to reshuffle his squads considerably, it seems that the Cape Town-born player is in his plans.

Wits are challenging for their second Absa Premiership league title, currently leading the standings with a two-point gap over second-placed Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, who are sat in third position.

With Scott having returned from injury, it remains to be seen how much he will contribute to their league run for the rest of the 2018/19 campaign.

Contacted for comment, the player’s representative, Mike Makaab, confirmed the deal. “I feel that Granwald signing a new deal is indicative of the professional that he is,” stated Makaab.
