Bucs consider loan move for Marcelo?

-

In an attempt to gain some PSL experience, Orlando Pirates’ Caio Marcelo could be loaned out for the 2019/20 season, according to sources close to the Soweto giants.

The young Brazilian defender, who was officially signed by the Buccaneers in September last year, has not been afforded regular gametime in his first season in the PSL. In addition, the arrival of Alfred Ndengane, who started playing for Bucs in January, has seen the 20-year-old move further down the pecking order.

His last league game played was against Highlands Park, on January 5, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

According to Siya sources, Bucs’ technical team rate the player highly, though it has been suggested that he may need to spend some time away from the club in order to gain some experience in Mzansi.

“Pirates’ Brazilian defender could be sent out on loan for next season. The technical team like him, as he is one of the talented youngsters with a bright future, but it’s been difficult for him to play regularly in the team,” said the source.

“He and Justice Chabalala find themselves in similar situation. There have been talks about potential loan deals and a decision is likely to be made to loan either one of them or both at the end of the season in order to help them get regular game-time at another PSL club,” added the source.
