Katsande eyeing deal in Asia?

-

The latest news reaching the Siya crew is that Willard Katsande and his camp are keen on exploring options for the player on the Asian continent, as the player sees out the final years of his professional football career.

Katsande has been heavily linked with a move away from Kaizer Chiefs in the past weeks, with undisclosed clubs in Kuwait, as well as Orlando Pirates in the PSL, believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation.

It was recently reported by the Siya crew that Katsande and Chiefs’ assistant coach, Shaun Bartlett, are not seeing eye-to-eye, which could have an effect on his future with the Soweto giants.

As it stands, the Zimbabwean international could be making his way through the exit door at Naturena. Siya sources have indicated that the midfielder and his camp are looking at possibilities and options in Asia, should the 33-year-old’s situation with the club remain unchanged.

Indications are that the player’s camp are assessing options in both China and Japan, the two having been identified as two of the biggest footballing countries in the East.

Katsande has one more year left on his deal and, although Chiefs have a option set in place, are yet to confirm or not they will be it. That means any interested suitors need to buy him out of existing deal, unless the player and club are able to agree on a mutual termination.

The Zimbabwean has played in three of Chiefs’ last four league games, this after being left to watch from the stands against both Polokwane City and Highlands Park. In total, Katsande has featured in 20 of the team’s 26 league games, and has scored three goals in the process.
