Sundowns to table big-money Zwane deal?
Word reaching the Siya crew is that Mamelodi Sundowns will need to table a lucrative deal to Themba Zwane in order to secure his future at the club beyond his current spell.
Zwane has been a sensational factor in Sundowns’ domestic and continental success in recent times. The player has evidently hit peak form in his professional football career, which has been eye-catching for most people in the football fraternity.
In the past, Kaizer Chiefs have been heavily linked with the playmaker, although it is unlikely that Masandawana would want to see a player of Zwane’s calibre leave to one of their PSL rivals.
However, speaking to the Siya crew recently, Zwane’s representative, Jazzman Mahlakgane, admitted that with the player’s current form, it would be difficult to turn down good opportunities elsewhere, though did emphasize that he is happy at Chloorkop.
“We are aware that he has been an important player and we don’t want to upset the applecart, but we can never say no to opportunities to further the player’s career. At the moment, he is contracted to Sundowns and he is happy,” Mahlakgane said.
The 29-year-old’s contract with Masandawana runs until 2021, should Sundowns exercise their a dded option set on his deal. While his short-term future s secure with the club, he will be entering into the inali 12 months of his curre ent deal in just over a year. ThisT means that the Tshwane giants will need to tie him down on a new contract within the next 20 months, to avoid losing him on a free.
According to Siya sources, should Zwane commit his long-term future to the 2016 CAF Champions League winners, indications are that Sundowns will have to table a lucrative new deal to the player, in order to avoid Zwane and his camp even considering a move away from the Brazilians.
