Sundowns to exercise Mohomi option
Mamelodi Sundowns are in the process of exercising the option on one of their out-of-favour players’ contract.
Lucky Mohomi, who will see his current deal with Sundowns come to an end on June 30, has been heavily linked with an exit from the club. SuperSport United were close to securing his signature during the January transfer window.
However, while the midfielder is likely to make a move away from the Chloorkop- based club at the end of the season, Sundowns still have an added two-year option set in place on his existing contract.
And, according to Siya sources, the Brazilians are looking to exercise the added option, which will extend Mohomi’s stay at Sundowns to until, at least, the end of the 2020/21 season. However, the source has added that Masandawana will still be open to sensendingng thee 27-yearyear-oold ouout on loanoan next season, in order for him to get the much needed game-time.
As things stand, Sundowns will have until the end of May to exercise the player’s added two-year option on his contract before he becomes a free agent on June 30.
Mohomi has made just two appearances for Sundowns so far this season, although the midfielder is not the only player struggling for game-time with the Brazilians.
Jose Ali Meza, Thela Ngobeni, Jeremy Brockie, Cuthbert Malajila and Oupa Manyisa are amongst the players currently being linked with a move away from the Chloorkopbased club and it remains to be seen what will become of their immediate futures in the coming months.
