Agent confident of Mabokgwane’s Bucs stay

-

Orlando Pirates are expected to make changes to their squad at the end of the season and, while there has been talk of the goalkeeping department being reshuffled, Jackson Mabokgwane’s agent does not foresee any problems for the player.

Wayne Sandilands has established himself as the team’s first choice stopper, in recent times, with the likes of Mabokgwane and Siyabonga Mpontshane fighting it out as cover, while Brilliant Khuzwayo continues his road to recovery from injury.

However, for Mabokgwane, fighting for game-time will not be his only concern, as his future at the Soweto giants has yet to be decided. He is left with a little over two months of the three-year contract that he signed with the Buccaneers when joining from Mpumalanga Black Aces in 2016.

The 31-year-old’s agent, Jazzman Mahlakgane, is confident that the keeper will be at the club next season. He indicated that talks of a new contract have not yet been initiated.

“We haven’t spoken yet regarding Mabokgwane, but I don’t foresee any problem,” Mahlakgane told the Siya crew.

“I would have been told by now by the club if there was going to be a problem or anything like that. Let’s give the club a chance and allow them to do things their way,” added the representative.

The Buccaneers are expected to make a decision on Mabokgwane’s future, as well as other members of the squad whose contracts will be expiring on June 30, once the current campaign is completed.
