Soccer Laduma

10 CENTS MAKES SENSE

-

I welcome the price increase of the Soccer Laduma newspaper and, honestly, even if you increased it to R5, I would still call it a bargain because you provide us with information from across the globe. Since the birth of this publication, I have never missed a copy. As it is, most of the time I walk four kilometres just to get my hands on a weekly issue. Keep up the good work! The price will never matter because Soccer Laduma is priceless. Zwee Mokgohloa, Ga-Mokgohloa Dear Vuyani Joni, I’ve just finished reading this week’s editor’s column by Lunga Adam. I have to admit that I’m one of those who read their paper from the back. I didn’t even realise that the price has skyrocketed by 10 cents! I was like, “Why would one apologise for a 10c price increase after years in South Africa, where every Wednesday we pay 50c extra for a litre of petrol without even an explanation from our government?” But then I realised that Soccer Laduma is more than just a publication, it’s a... I can’t find the word! Thanks for the good job you guys are doing as the Soccer Laduma team. I have two requests, good Sir. I would like you guys to interview one Kgoloko Thobejane, as I would like to hear from the horse’s mouth as to what really happened to him at Baroka FC. Secondly, would you please be kind to bring us Thamsanqa Gabuza in the “In Touch With…” segment. I thank you. Yours truly… Philani “Mzala” Phungula, Bulwer Dear Editor, I would like to salute the Soccer Laduma management and staff in its entirety for the high values and regard in which they forever hold their readers and football supporters at large. The humble gesture and the humility you accorded us by explaining the price increase of our soccer publication is out of this world. I have never come across any publication that goes the extra mile to explain the circumstances and the factors that led to an increase in its cover price. To put the icing on the cake, the price increase is very minimal, as we would not even mind even if it went up to R5.00. The content in the publication remains of a very high standard and that is the reason you get high reviews from readers, players, coaches and soccer experts at all times. The most important thing is that, while you keep us informed about the happenings in the soccer world, you also keep the nation reading. We would like to thank you so much and really appreciate the huge contribution you are making to the game. Keep up the good work. On a sad note, we are disappointed in not finding your name ‘Soccer Laduma Soccer Party’ on the ballot paper for the upcoming general elections on May 8 and I am sure you would attain a landslide victory, if only to teach the present batch of politicians a thing or two about accountability and how to govern. With the 2024 elections in mind, I say come on, Soccer Laduma, make our dreams come true. Cheerio! Thabang Lehoko, Johannesburg
