PAPY FATY’S LAST WORDS…

-

A whole lot of doctors suggested that Papy Faty should quit playing football. Gavin Hunt and Jose Ferreira also joined in, suggesting that he quit the playing the beautiful game. In the most recent edition of Soccer Laduma, Hunt said that he felt something was going to happen very soon to the player if he didn’t stop. As if he were a fortune teller, his worst fears were realised. Because of the love, hunger and passion he had for the game, he never stopped, literally leaving everything on the field of play. May his soul rest in peace. Siyabonga Nkalambela, Delft Some people are blaming Papy Faty for continuing to play despite doctor’s orders. Well, I say the mere fact that the guy went to so much trouble to continue playing spoke highly of his passion! RIP, soldier! Lesley Rankweteke, via email Heartfelt condolences to the football fraternity and to the Faty family. I still can’t believe the news, as I read about his painful story in last week’s edition of Soccer Laduma. It was a touching story from this talented player. Africa and the people of Burundi are mourning, especially after the Burundi national team qualified for AFCON for the first time in history. The remarks by his former coach

Gavin Hunt were so touching and it shows that he had a lot of empathy about the player’s medical condition. Papy tried everything to heal his medical problem and it shows that he was so passionate about playing football, to the extent that he defied doctor’s orders. May his dear soul rest in peace. Madimetja Vic Mashamaite, Renstown My sincere condolences to Papy Faty’s family during this sad period. This news set the heart aching after reading his interview just last Wednesday in this publication. This was his way of saying goodbye to the football fraternity. These things happen and we will never understand. Only God knows. Rest in peace, my brother, you are free from all the pain now. Stephen Mpya, Mamphulo Village
