We need to gang up against Wydad! Alex Shakoane – Mamelodi Sundowns spokesperson

“On behalf of Sundowns, I would like to invite our supporters to become part of the history we are writing. Sundowns is on a mission to write history that will remain in the archives of South African football for quiet a long time. We urge the supporters to come in big numbers, which is exactly why we are not charging anyone in our colours to get into the stadium on Saturday. Anyone wearing anything yellow will get free entrance and those who are not, will pay R20. As you come into the stadium, you will be issued with a ticket because we need to know how many people are inside so that we can manage the crowd. We are excited about the fact that we scored an away goal against Wydad, so we expect the support that saw Wydad win the game in their own backyard to do the same for us on Saturday. What I’m saying, if you’re a Sundowns supporter and you’re not part of this history-making event, then I will not regard you as a Sundowns supporter. Everybody must please come to the stadium and I’m not only talking to Sundowns supporters because this is about the country. This is what the coach (Pitso Mosimane) always says, it is a national agenda. It is for every South African. We are urging all soccer-loving people, from all the clubs, to come and support us. We need to gang up against Wydad! That’s what they do to visiting teams in their home games. We had an impressive turn out against Al Ahly and we look forward to an even bigger and better atmosphere. Passion is what drives these North African teams and that’s exactly why we took 120 of our supporters to Morocco to get the feel of that passion. Our supporters have experienced this and it now has to trigger to all the club’s structures and stakeholders. I can assure you, the stadium will be packed to capacity come Saturday. People need to know that security is going to be very tight because we want this to be a family event. Football is a family sport and we want to encourage people to bring their families, which is why we continue to improve security. All we need is your support.”
