• Following Maccabi FC’s remarkable come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Richards Bay FC, which boosted their chances of remaining in the NFD, the team’s assistant coach, Mokete Tsotetsi, told Soccer Laduma, “It was a must-win game. Our head coach Joel Masutha and I do our part during the week, so it’s up to the players to perform. We told them they had to go out to fight for every chance that comes their way. Without these three points, they’d probably be sitting at home looking for other jobs.” • The last occasion that relegated Witbank Spurs suffered a similar fate was back in 2003/04 under the umbrella of People’s Bank Spurs. That’s when a group of eight clubs from the Inland Stream, including Dobsonville All Nations, Ledwaba Power Stars and Alexandra United, were all sent down to the amateur ranks in order to make space for the new 18-club Mvela Golden League. • Former Ajax Cape Town and Ubuntu midfielder, Franklin Cale, is currently playing for Western Cape ABC Motsepe League strugglers, Ocean View FC, who at round 27 had lost 16 matches. • After dominating the KZN third tier for the majority of the season, Summerfield Dynamos FC have been crowned champions with 70 points from a possible 84. Their nearest rivals, Happy Wanderers FC, GWP Friends, Umvoti FC and KwaDabeka Sporting FC, were left in the lurch. • Meanwhile, it’s the same scenario for Limpopo’s Madridtas FC, who’ve had a great ABC Motsepe League campaign, only losing two games at round 29, while accumulating 67 points.
