United’s radar

-

United need to invest their money wisely, on players who aren’t short-term solutions, but players who can form part of a rebuilding project. Supporters aren’t expecting the club to spend truck loads on a new team, but to cleverly add quality, like City and Liverpool have done brilliantly in recent windows. A typical United and Woodward signing would be a player such as Gareth Bale, who would cost big money and be one of the team’s highest earners. The last thing the club needs is a repeat of Sanchez’s case. It’s widely thought a centre-back signing is required, someone such as Kalidou Koulibaly. Cool, composed and two-footed, an experienced international with Senegal, a defender who’d have the immediate respect of his peers. With Antonio Valencia on his way out, Crystal Palace rightback Aaron Wan-Bissaka is believed to be a target. Seeing as though Ander Herrera could be leaving on a free contract, midfielders Bruno Fernandes and Declan Rice may be smart acquisitions for the side, players who would give the club many years if they’re given time. Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, who recently assisted his 14th goal of the Bundesliga season, is just 19 years old and would be someone who gets fan off their feet. There seems to be a lack of end product when United go forward of late, a problem Sancho doesn’t have. Lastly, Juventus attacker Paulo Dybala is reportedly also on United’s shortlist, though the Italian giants are intent on keeping him at the club. The Argentine has not featured all that much this season for the Bianconeri, but with Massimiliano Allegri’s future uncertain, perhaps he feels the 2019/20 campaign could be different.
