MATCH OF THE WEEK REAL MADRID V ATLETICO MADRID (SPANISH LA LIGA)

League Rankings: Real Madrid 1st &

Atletico Madrid 5th

Useful facts: Leaders Real Madrid take on city rivals Atletico Madrid, looking to entertain fans with some goals this time round after their clash in the first half of the season finished goalless at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium. Real have been in great form under the tutelage of Zinedine Zidane this season and are currently on a run of 12 matches without a defeat. During that period, they have scored 23 goals, 12 of which were netted on home soil. This shows how lethal they are in attack at the moment and Atletico will have their work cut out in trying to stop them. Real have also kept eight clean sheets in their last 12 matches and they would love nothing more than to deny their rivals a goal this weekend. Atletico, meanwhile, have had a difficult few weeks. Other than the fact that they have scored just 22 goals in 21 matches, they’ve recorded just one win in three matches in 2020 and have dropped down to fifth place due to this. They failed to get maximum points against bottom half of the table clubs Eibar and Leganes in their last two matches. This is not the kind of form that they would want to be in going into a clash against the log leaders, with bragging rights at stake.

GOLDEN ARROWS VS SUPERSPORT UNITED (PREMIER SOCCER LEAGUE)

League Rankings: Golden Arrows 9th & SuperSport United 3rd

Useful facts: After their last-minute defeat to log leading Kaizer Chiefs on home soil over the past weekend, Golden Arrows will be determined to bounce back, while SuperSport United are on a mission to keep themselves in the race to win the biggest prize in local football – the Absa Premiership title. Arrows have dropped out of the Top Eight and would no doubt be looking to make a return and a win would boost their chances of finishing in the top half of the table come the end of the season. Steve Komphela’s men have done fairly well at home in this campaign, with just two defeats in nine matches. Their most valuable win at home was against defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns and they would no doubt be eyeing a victory against another Tshwane giant. Matsatsantsa go into the game on the back of a convincing 3-0 win over Chippa United last Friday night. Bradley Grobler is a key threat up front, and they will be banking on him to find a chink in the Arrows armour. The two sides played to a goalless draw in the first half of the season.

CHIPPA UNITED VS ORLANDO PIRATES (PREMIER SOCCER LEAGUE)

League Rankings: Chippa United 12th & Orlando Pirates 4th

Useful facts: Orlando Pirates will be looking to extend their unbeaten run under new coach Josef Zinnbauer. The Buccaneers have won five of the six games the German mentor has been in charge of, while they drew the other. They’ve improved a lot as a side and confidence is high at the moment, so Chippa United will need to be at their best to stop the Soweto giants when they clash this Saturday. The last time Pirates lost an away game was in November when they played against

Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs. Chippa, meanwhile, have not been in good form in recent times, with just one win in five matches played in 2020. The last time these two sides met, the Buccaneers registered a 2-1 victory.

HIGHLANDS PARK VS BAROKA FC (PREMIER SOCCER LEAGUE)

League Rankings: Highlands Park 11th & Baroka FC 13th

Useful facts: It’s been a difficult start to 2020 for Highlands Park, with a run of three straight defeats, which have seen them drop out of the Top Eight. They’ve conceded 10 goals in these three matches and head coach Owen da Gama has probably addressed the defensive frailties heading into the clash against a Baroka FC side that is full of running. The Lions of the North have had over 10 days since their 3-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates in Soweto, which would have given Da Gama ample time to work on the problem areas in the team, both in defence and attack, where they’ve scored just twice in the last three matches. Baroka, meanwhile, edged Maritzburg United 2-1 over the past weekend, a much-needed win that will give the team some confidence. Highlands walked away 2-1 winners when these sides met in the first half of the campaign, but the Lions of the North have not been the same of late. It could be anybody’s game.

Useful facts: Burnley piled on the misery for Manchester United when they visited Old Trafford last week and now Wolverhampton Wanderers will be at the Theatre of Dreams hoping to do the same. Despite dominating the game against Burnley, the Red Devils were beaten 2-0 and they now face a side more than capable of beating them this weekend. Wolves showed how much of a strong side they are when they came from two goals down away from home against Southampton to record a 3-2 victory. United, who many feel have descended into mediocrity of late, with their fans walking out of the stadium even before their matches are over, will have to be solid and lethal up front to overcome the threat posed by the visitors. RB LEIPZIG VS BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH (GERMAN BUNDESLIGA)

League Rankings: RB Leipzig 1st & Borussia Monchengladbach 3rd

Useful facts: Before their 2-0 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt over the past weekend, leaders Leipzig had gone on a run of nine matches without defeat and they would certainly want to get back to winning ways when they host fellow title challengers Monchengladbach. The visitors have not won a game away from home since November. Leipzig registered a 3-1 win when these two sides met in the first half of the season.
