Soccer Laduma

Let’s get started, my brother. We’re itching to hear what you’ve got in your bag full of gags! Ha, ha, does he wear the T-shirt, perhaps just to show that ‘what you see is what you get’? Ha, ha, ha. He eats a lot, but he still gets the job done on the pit

Heita, Thabo! Thanks for your time. We are looking forward to your stories, especially because you’ve got the funny Oscarine Masuluke as your teammate, ha, ha, ha.

Ha, ha, ha. I think I have a few stories for you because we have some interesting characters in the team. The funny guy is, as you would have guessed, Masuluke, as well as some other guys in the team.

Okay, let me get started then. One time, we were going to training and I was arguing with Nasri (Noko) Malekana. So, as we were talking, I ended up telling him that he is a parasite. This happened before we started training. After training, he tried to say what I was saying to him before training, but what followed was very funny…

Ha, ha, ha, what did he say?

He said to me, “Oh, that means you are also paradise.” He wanted to say ‘parasite’… and it was so funny the way he got it all wrong. Every player in the bus heard him when he said that, so you can imagine what a butt of jokes he became. They all just started laughing in the bus. It was such a funny moment. He wanted to justify what he said, so everybody said to him, “No, no, no, Nasri. You did a mistake, so relax, baba.” Ha, ha, ha.

Do you guys start calling him ‘Paradise’ by any chance?

Ha, ha, ha. No, I call him ‘Error’. I even bought him a T-shirt and on the T-shirt is the inscription ‘Error’.

We are always teasing one another when someone makes a mistake in English.

Yes, he does wear it. I have even got a picture of him wearing the t-shirt… I can send it to you, ha, ha, ha.

You guys have an interesting way of reminding teammates of their mistakes, ha, ha, ha.

Ha, ha, ha, for sure, bro. We like having fun as a team.

Which means that there’s so much more that happens either in training or while you are in camp…

And then there’s our goalkeeper Masuluke, the funniest guy in our team. That man likes speaking English a lot and he

is so loud. Even if you make a mistake, everyone in the team can hear him going on about it – that’s how loud he is, ha, ha, ha. So, as teammates, we like playing Rondo or we do some shooting before and after training, and then we also play 11 versus 11. Then if you play a back pass to him and it’s in the air, he will fight you. He will clear the ball and start fighting you for the back pass that you played.

Ha, ha, ha.

He will say, “Hey, man, don’t pass me upstairs, you should pass me the ball downstairs.” We find that so funny because he obviously means that we should not pass him the ball in the air, it should be on the ground, ha, ha, ha. That man is just so funny and we love having him as our teammate because it’s good for the team spirit. When it comes to making jokes in the team, Masuluke is the one who makes us laugh. And then I’m the one in the team who is always talking, ha, ha, ha. The guys enjoy it because I’m always trying to make them happy.

That should mean you guys are always in stiches whenever you are together because of the many characters.

Yeah, bro! There’s a guy in our team named Nyiko Sibanda. That guy is so huge, from head to toe, ha, ha, ha. We gave him the name ‘Big Baby’ because he is just so huge. You won’t even notice if he is wearing shin pads because he is just so big, bro. We are not used to his massive body, but the interesting thing is that he can run, big as he is. That guy can eat a lot too. He eats, hey, ha, ha, ha.

And then we also have Katlego Mojela in our team, a tall striker. The guy is a punisher when it comes to eating food. He does not mess around. He eats like there is no tomorrow, but there’s one funny thing…

Which is?

That guy is so skinny, bro. He can eat everything under the sun, but he does not gain weight. He can eat everything on the table, but I’m telling you, he will always be like that. He won’t gain any weight.

Maybe he just needs to spend more time with Sibanda, so he can share with him some secrets on eating to gain weight, ha, ha. Thanks a lot for the hilarious stories, Thabo.

Thanks a lot, bro.
