Euro Interest Mounts In SuperSport Star

-

Despite his young age of just 22, Teboho Mokoena has already racked up more than 100 appearances for SuperSport United, since making his debut in 2016, and his performances have not gone unnoticed in Mzansi or from scouts abroad.

Mokoena, who is currently in the process of signing a new long-term deal with Matsatsantsa as a reward for his efforts over the last year, is thought to have attracted plenty of interest from Europe as he considers the next step of his career if it lies away from Tshwane.

SuperSport have already made it clear in the past that they would not stand in the midfielder’s way should a suitable move internationally arise, and they may have to keep to their word later this year should the youngster impress at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

According to Siya sources, some big clubs in both Belgium and Turkey are keeping close tabs on the Harmony Academy product as he continues to go from strength to strength, and – should he impress in Japan – then a move could well be on the cards before the 2020/21 season gets underway.

The Bafana Bafana international has missed just one Absa Premiership game for Matsatsantsa this season and added another MTN8

medal to his collection earlier in the campaign, and he’ll be eager to make sure he ends the season on a high as he guns for more silverware – individual and with SuperSport – later in the year.

This is not the first time that the youngster has attracted interest from overseas, with an unnamed German club having a bid turned down by SuperSport back in July.

SuperSport’s Tshwane rivals, Mamelodi Sundowns, have also expressed a keen interest in the player over the past months, though have been consistently rebuffed in their attempts to try and sign him and his new contract, just like with Aubrey Modiba, now makes it even harder for Masandawana to try and make a deal happen if they are to continue their pursuit.

The Siya crew will continue to keep tabs on Mokoena’s situation as the weeks go past, and while he won’t be going anywhere this month, there could be an exciting 2020 ahead for the midfielder if he can continue his form for club and country.
