CLINCHIN’ IT AT THE DEATH!

-

Congratulations to Chiefs for a hard-fought win against stubborn Arrows. It was no easy game at all. Komphela came with a plan that really favoured him for the better part of the game until that lapse in the dying minutes. They applied the man-to-man strategy, cut those diagonal passes from Chiefs wingers and avoided giving away unnecessary set-pieces. As for Middendorp, he doesn’t have a Plan B and it’s just a matter of time before teams counter his style of play. We need someone who can go one-onone with opponents, a player like Molangoane. Seun Magakwe, Khutsong, Carletonville

Middendorp is slowly becoming arrogant. Soon he will receive a rude awakening if he does not realise the importance of players such as Billiat and Khune, given that these players are well-respected by opposition teams. Their presence on the field provides a lot of psychological factor that contributes in Chiefs’ favour. We need our best players to carry the team during this crucial phase of the season.

The team is just one-dimensional in play and predictable. We need to have a variety in our play if we are to win this championship. Small teams are starting to apply defensive tactics, hence we need to have another plan to unlock their defence. Luvuyo Zuma, Cape Town

Even at the 11th hour, God still forgives the sinners and that is exactly what happened in Chiefs’ win over Arrows to reach 45 points with 11 games to the finishing line. Last season, after 30 games, we had amassed a very poor 39 points, 33 goals for and 29 goals against. Now if you compare the two seasons, we have already achieved more, but since we are ambitious, we are gunning for the big fish. MaPiano has equalled Parker’s paltry 10 goals that won him the Golden Boot that season and is now aiming for Musona’s 15 goals. It is now a question of ‘catch us if you can’ and if this is not exciting times for you as an Amakhosi fan, then nothing will ever make you happy. Amos Tshukudu, Ga Maria

Congrats to the mighty Amakhosi for fighting until the end. The home side’s only mistake was playing deep and deploying Mutizwa alone up front. Chiefs are predictable because they only play high balls most of the time and Arrows dealt with that well. Nurkovic becomes emotional when not given space to play. Komphela’s troops went to sleep, thinking the point was in the bag. Manyama’s goal, what a bitter pill to swallow for the opposition! Well, it’s a free lesson that it’s not over until the final whistle blows. Madimetja Vic Mashamaite, Renstown

Chiefs are grinding results, not to mention the ubiquity of the stroke of fortune on the team’s side. When you score in Fergie time, you must know signs of lifting the title are

there. Our coach doesn’t have a Plan B. Imagine if Mahlasela and Ntshangase had been utilised to their full potential, we would not only be depending on crosses and standard play. We are so predictable now. Let Ernst win the league and then show him the door because we don’t have a future with him. JZ is also coming right with Bucs. At the bottom half, if you win, draw or lose, it makes a whole lot of difference in terms of positional leap or drop. Siyabonga Nkalambela, Delft
