LAWRENCE MASEGELA ON SITHOLE

-

“This guy loved his food. When he was at Kaizer Chiefs, I was at Bidvest Wits and I often used to visit him at the hotel that used to house Chiefs players back then… I think the hotel had a residential agreement with Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. When you got to his room, you’d never see anything on top of the table other than burgers, pizzas, snacks. He loved food more than anything in life. He’d eat two burgers at a go! He looks like the quiet type, but there was a naughty side to him. He was a good guy, but in an environment where you only had lads, no one was ever going to be too innocent for his liking. Eish, he’s married now. I can only tell you he was always on his phone. And whenever he was on a call, you wouldn’t hear him speaking, you’d think he’d just put his phone on his ear. However, if he was on a call with a male, he would talk at the top of his voice, ha, ha, ha. When he was talking to his ‘captain’, Mrs Right, you could tell. He always presented himself as this ‘sgaqagaqa’ (Mr Tough Guy) or superhero to us, but always seemed like a little kid in a candy shop during those calls.”
