Ntshangase’s R3m fee to keep him at Chiefs?

-

The clock is ticking on Siphelele Ntshangase’s contract at Kaizer Chiefs, with the club having not yet confirmed whether he is staying or going.

But the Siya crew has been led to believe that the midfielder does still has a future at Naturena because of two contributing factors!

The first is the now highly likely possibility of coach Ernst Middendorp leaving Chiefs when the 2019/20 season is eventually concluded, therefore opening the door for the club to exercise their one-year option on ‘Stash’.

Middendorp has been a fierce critic of the player for the most part of his Amakhosi tenure, which began in December 2018. As things stand, Ntshangase has not made an official appearance for Chiefs this season.

The second contributing factor, which sources say could leave the Glamour Boys with no choice but to keep Ntshangase, is the transfer fee paid by the club to Baroka FC back in January 2018 when Steve Komphela was the head coach.

Chiefs forked out R3 million for the player and would want to recoup some of that fee, but allowing ‘Stash’ to become a free agent at the end of his contract makes that impossible.

To exercise their option then makes sense and means the player can either be part of the bigger picture next season or can be sold at a cut-price fee if both parties decide to part ways.
