Downs to tie Mngqithi down for four years?

-

Another big contract decision for Mamelodi Sundowns is looming as the club is expected to make a decision on the future of assistant coach Manqoba Mngqithi.

Last week, Sundowns confirmed that coach Pitso Mosimane has signed a new four-year deal with the Brazilians, with Siya sources now indicating that Mngqithi is waiting to have his immediate future confirmed too.

As Mosimane’s right-hand man, Mngqithi has played an important role in the four-time league winning coach’s success over the years, which includes winning the CAF Cham - pions League and Super Cup.

It is believed that the club president, Patrice Motsepe, is happy with the two coaches’ combination and doesn’t want to lose any key technical team members again, after the club lost Rhulani Mokwena to Orlando Pirates in 2017.

According to sources, a four-year deal is being discussed with Mngqithi, which would allow him to continue his work alongside Mosimane as they aim to continue with their dominance in the Absa Premiership.

“Negotiations are ongoing for coach Manqoba to have his contract extended at Sundowns. The parties are hoping to conclude soon, for the coach to continue in his role,” said the source.

The Siya crew understands that Mngqithi has received offers from other clubs, though is keen on extending his stay at Chloorkop instead.
