Chiefs to reignite Hunt interest?

-

With Gavin Hunt telling journalists recently that he’s had a meeting with a chairman from one of the Big Three in Mzansi and nothing had come of it, the Siya crew understands that the 55-year-old coach is still on Kaizer Chiefs’ wish-list and that the Soweto giants could reignite their interest!

Speculation is rife that Amakhosi and Ernst Middendorp could part ways at the end of the season despite the fact that the German does still have one more year left to run on his existing deal with Chiefs.

And, according to Siya sources, Hunt’s name has been brought up, with Siya source indicating that Amakhosi could reignite their interest in the serial-winning mentor.

While it has been previously reported by the Siya crew that Hunt had an informal meeting with a top Chiefs official at the start of the 2019/20 campaign, during a press conference with the SA Football Journalists’ Association last month, Hunt explained why he’s never landed a job at either Chiefs, Downs or Orlando Pirates.

While he did not reveal which club he met with, Hunt said, in part, “The problem with the big three clubs is that you are not the boss. I had a meeting with a big chairman from one of the top three, it was a great meeting.

“He said, ‘I want you to be the coach’ and I said, ‘No problem, fantastic’. But I told him there’s only one problem, that he’s got four or five bosses there. I said, ‘I want to be the boss and I’ve got to bring players and decide who should go’. Well, obviously nothing happened. I could have named my price, whatever I wanted, but the problem is that you can’t be the boss.”

Well, he could be the “boss” if indications from Siya sources
