• Following a report that GladAfrica Championship clubs might be able to complete their season at a camp in the North West, providing the powers that be issue the go-ahead, one insider told Soccer Laduma, “It’s going to be strange playing behind closed doors like in Germany, (it’s) not the same football that we all know. Players would have lost form, not be fit and be expected to play about two games in one week. They’ll be affected by injuries, so you can expect a lot of changes on the log. If you lose a few key squad members in the first week, it will make a huge difference.”
• Soccer Laduma has it on good authority that Steenberg United have cut salaries for players, therefore following in the footsteps of their Mother City rivals, Cape Umoya United.
• Real Kings, who registered over 50 players at the beginning of this campaign, have put a few on special leave. “This happened since the arrival of head coach, Mike Lukhubene, who was in charge of three league games before lockdown,” said a source.
• Former Richards Bay FC head coach, Jean-Francois Losciuto, who’s currently in Equatorial Guinea working for Futuro Kings FC, has expressed what’s happening in that part of Africa. “I thought this Coronavirus would not block us for so long. We are waiting impatiently to either resume training and competition or the cancellation of our championship. I had to organise individual training sessions for each of my players because confinement is not 100% mandatory,” he said.
