QALINGE FOR OVERSEAS MOVE?

-

Thabo Qalinge’s representative has confirmed to the Siya crew that the 28-year-old will be moving on from SuperSport United after the club opted against exercising the added option on the player’s deal.

SuperSport CEO, Stan Matthews, had already revealed in local media that the club will not be extending the speedy winger’s stay – however, it became official after the deadline day on May 31.

“Qalinge (and Mnyamane) have options on their contracts, but we haven’t exercised them, which means they’ll be free agents at the end of the season,” Matthews told local media back in May.

The player’s representative, Stanton Fredericks, has since confirmed that Qalinge will leave SuperSport on a free, and that there is currently interest in the player locally, while they are trying to secure a deal for the player overseas.

“SuperSport United are not exercising the option, so he will leave the club at the end of the season. There is interest in Thabo Qalinge locally, but we are trying to get him a move overseas. Once football returns, we will assess our options,” he said.

Most teams in the Premier Soccer League returned to training last week after the government gave the green light for them to do so in Level 3 of the nationwide lockdown.

As things stand, despite the player’s contract coming to an end on June 30, until decided otherwise, indications are that Qalinge will remain with Matsatsantsa until the 2019/20 season is officially concluded over the coming months.
