That one was a soldier. Now that was the one who would promise you a beating. We were all scared of him. He was a strong guy and you wouldn’t say any nonsense in front of him because he had the potential to hurt you.

Any last word before we wrap it all up?

There’s one guy that South Africa did not see the best of, Thabiso ‘Skaapie’ Malatsi, because I played with him since he was six years old until we turned professional. Okay, I know that people saw a bit of him, but he was something else. Skaapie would win games for us single-handedly when we played under Farouk Khan in the Kaizer Chiefs development. When we were losing a game, he would get so angry that he would abandon the instructions of the coach and not play according to his designated position. He would fetch the ball from the goalkeeper, dribble the opposition throughout the entire length of the pitch and go on to score. Unfortunately, life is not fair.

It’s been a great three weeks of transporting Soccer Laduma readers back to those lovely times. Thanks.

Ok, skhokho sam (my friend). Thanks for ukuthi ungibambe nami (getting in touch with me). Just one last thing with regards to SuperSport Legends, we are open to playing with any corporate companies, even government. If anyone is working for government and would like to invite us to come wherever, they can call us and we’ll arrange. The people responsible for organising things are myself, Japie (Motale), “Ace” (Molefi Ntsoelengoe) and “Shakes” (Cavaan Sibeko). Even if they need ex-pros to come and talk in communities. I think we have a role to play as ex-professionals because whatever we’ve learned about life, we can help the upcoming young boys and girls. We are here, we can help.
