Agent confirms Jele’s Pirates extension

-

Happy ‘Magents’ Jele has put pen to paper with Orlando Pirates. The club captain’s representative has confirmed to the Siya crew that the veteran defender has signed an extension with the Soweto giants.

The Middelburg-born player, who has been with the Buccaneers since 2006, is expected to continue in Josef Zinnbauer’s team for at least another season following rumours that he could be leaving the club.

The 33-year-old agreed to a oneyear extension with the club last year and although it expired on June 30, he remained with side on an extended deal for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign.

Last month, the centre-back revealed via a virtual media briefing that his wish is to retire at the Soweto giants – the only club he has only ever played for in his professional career.

“So far, I have been happy, you know, the team has been good to me (and) I don’t have a problem with them. I wish one day, if it’s possible to finish my career here – to retire in the team,” Jele said at the time.

Now, top South African agent,

Jazzman Mahlakgane, has confirmed that Magents has penned a contract extension, although he would not divulge the length of the contract.

“Happy Jele’s contract has been renewed,” Mahlakgane told the Siya crew. Although he did not share the length of the contract, indications are that he signed for a further year, as has been the case in the last few seasons.

Moreover, Pirates are expected to officially unveil Thulani Hlatshwayo, who has signed a five-year-deal with the club, as reported by the Siya crew.
