UMOYA WAM UYAVUMA!

Wow, what a scintillating end to the season for Mamelodi Sundowns! Another day, another victory and another trophy to add to the cabinet to round off 2019/220. You guys rock! Hail Sir Pitso and his technical team. The players are doing wonders for this team and are truly playing their hearts out for the Yellow Nation. Congratulations and well done. You deserve all the praise.

Thembelani Ngcebetsha, KwaDwesi, Port Elizabeth

Let me join the party and congratulate Pitso for adding yet another milestone to his elegant CV. As football followers, we have to learn to appreciate our homegrown coaching talent. Here is a technical team made up of local coaches doing what no other coach has ever done – five years consecutively representing the country with aplomb in the continent without compromising the standards in the domestic league. Coach Pitso has brought charisma to the game, something mistaken for arrogance and has thus earned him a lot of armchair critics. With a knowledgeable gentleman beside him in Mngqithi and a young master tactician in Rhulani, his star is going to continue to shine. We have to commend the likes of Patrice Motsepe for the confidence they’ve shown in local coaches. It’s time our club bosses put trust in local talent before they vanish into the dustbin of history. One day, when SAFA is ready, coach Pitso will reclaim his deserved position as Bafana head coach.

May I show respect and bow to the Cup Kings of Tshwane. The magnificent treble has made our 50th birthday celebrations even sweeter. It wasn’t easy, but we keep smiling. Teamwork did it. My prayer is for our team to pay detailed attention to the younger generation of players so that they graduate in succeeding the generation of Bro Hlompho, Arendse and Onyango. We are always going to be humble in the success of the team, as at some point, we were called names like spoiled brats and 57 supporters. The sky is our only limit as we plot to conquer Africa in the coming season.

Patrick Pilane, Sebokeng

Allow me to congratulate my team for winning another cup for us. It was indeed a season to remember as this doesn’t come easy or cheap. It requires dedication, industrious players and a good technical team. Sir Pitso has proven again that he is unstoppable and I believe he’ll do this again next season if he guides his players well and advise them not to get carried away by their recent achievements. I think he has also signed enough quality players for next season. Now is the time to add another African star. When it comes to the coaching staff, he must not tamper with that because they are doing a great job. As for our prodigal son Rhulani, he is the lucky one as he has just collected his second medal in a very short space of time, and I guess he missed medals since he achieved none while he was away.

Nkanukeni J Magaba, Mvelaphanda Nakisani

It’s coincidental that Chiefs wanted to reclaim the glory to celebrate their 50th anniversary, but little did the Glamour Boys know that the same is what the Chloorkopbased outfit was longing for. Congrats to Sundowns for winning Nedbank cup. Wounds are severely aggravated.

Mluleki Daniso, KwaNondabula

Congratulations are in order to Sundowns. They won their treble in style, with two of their trophies won inside the bio-bubble. Pitso is on another level and his players were experienced enough to stay in the bio-bubble because they’ve been doing it even outside the borders of South Africa. To them, there was nothing strange about being in the bio-bubble and they conducted themselves like true champions. I so wish Pirates players learnt a thing or two from the behaviour of Sundowns players under such conditions because they are going to Africa not to represent themselves but the entire nation and it’s going to be so interesting to see how JZ is going to conduct his troops there because that’s a different ball game and depth is needed. If Chiefs end up taking Hunt as their coach, it’s going to be difficult for him because we all know that coach he doesn’t like playing in Africa.

Sibusiso Khumalo, Melmoth, KZN

Everybody is questioning Sundowns’ recruitment of players. I also question the logic behind the naysayers’ worry. Every big team in the world, your Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man City, Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Al Ahly, Zamalek, Esperance, Bayern Munich, Orlando Pirates, is signing quality players, but when it comes to Sundowns, people get jealous. This leaves a big question about professionalism in our football. If you feel Pitso’s philosophy is easily developed because of the quality he has at his disposal, what about Real Madrid, Man City and PSG’s quality? Do they have quality or quantity. Pitso is not an exception to those coaches. Congratulations coach Pitso, your technical team, the lads, board members, your families and the whole Yellow Nation. You are giving us the real reason to support you.

Terah Maqepula, Mount Fletcher

As a member of the Khosi Nation, let me swallow my pride and congratulate Mamelodi Sundowns on the excellent season that they’ve just had, winning three cups. Admittedly, they didn’t sweat for the league title this year unlike past seasons, but they still won it anyway. Hopefully the two Soweto giants will wake up from their deep sleep and give you some challenge in future, but I’m not sure when and how. The truth is we don’t need a Juventus type of situation here, where it’s one team all the way. We actually need to salute and acknowledge Mr Patrice Motsepe’s efforts in transforming Downs to what it is now, compared to what it was before he took over. Sundowns were still winning titles then, but since Patrice took over, they are grabbing every talent available and it’s working for them because they have quality all round. Let’s hope by Wednesday when we buy our copies of Soccer Laduma, we’ll be reading about Hunt being the new Chiefs coach.

Mompati “Panyaza” Ndlovu, Lekubu Village, Zeerust NATURENA GOINGS-ON

The only way forward for Chiefs is to hire Mr Hunt and give him full authority to run the team and allow him to recruit and sign his own players who will be suitable for his style of play. Bobby must step aside and not have any say in the running of the team. He has failed the team for five seasons now. He is responsible for the downfall of the team. What annoys me about Bobby is that he has an eye for good players, but he doesn’t sign them when they are at their peak. He wants to sign them only when they are past their sale-by date. Look at the issue of Hlanti – he identified the player while he was still young at AmaZulu FC and he didn’t sign him. Now that he’s 30, he’s dying to sign him.

Neo Mahlangu, Tembisa

Ernst has been sacked and it was long expected. Rumours doing the rounds suggest the management were split in half, some suggesting he deserved another chance. Finally, a good decision was taken, otherwise Chiefs supporters were going to chase the coach away once they were allowed into the stadiums again. Now we are waiting for the announcement of the new coach. If it was not a family business, Bobby would have been long fired.

Siyabonga Nkalambela, Delft

Hard luck to the peace-loving people of Amakhosi. The real reason Chiefs failed to win the league is Bobby. He never ceases to amaze me. How on earth can he refuse FIFA’s gesture of continuing with players even if their contracts are up due to the COVID-19 recess? Getting rid of the engine of the team was a million dollar mistake that only a clueless person could make. Maluleka is the reason why the team was at the top of the standings for a long time and had Bobby swallowed his pride, we would be talking a different story now. But I am not entirely shocked because he made the same mistake with Ekstein, after the boy had taken us to the Nedbank Cup final against TS Galaxy, which Chiefs failed to win. After the game against Baroka FC, I nearly died of a heart attack when Chiefs failed to win the league. I am now having heart problems because of Bobby. My appeal to Sir Kaizer Motaung is to please replace that useless son of yours with Kaizer Junior or Jessica. Bobby had a lack of anticipation and he cost the team the big one. Please, Mr Motaung. How long must we suffer?

Boitumelo Vanrooyen, Schweizer-Reneke

I should take this opportunity to congratulate Pitso and his team for winning the 2019/20 league title. Talk about deserved winners. I am a die-hard Chiefs supporter and that I am not happy with how our management is running (or is it ruining?) things is for all to see. Hear me out, mine is not a lament against the release of man-incharge Middendorp and his lieutenant Bartlett, but we all know they were not the problem; only that the management is using them as scapegoats. How sad. Football manager Bobby Motaung is the one who needs to vacate office, not the coaching staff. It would only be proper for head honcho, Mr. Kaizer Motaung, to replace the departed German with someone who once played football or give Kaizer Jnr a chance because I see him as someone who can do a great job. This is not to take away from all the good job that Bobby has done for his ou toppie’s club, but I think in a situation such as this, change is only inevitable. We are tired of being the PSL laughing stock. Such that I cannot remember the last time we won a trophy. The pain of it all, for a Khosi supporter, is unspeakable. All said and done, congrats Masandawana, once more.

Nemusunda Mmboniseni, Thabo Mbeki Village

What a disappointment! Chiefs are the disappointment of all time. Pitso was right when he said this was a movie he’d seen before. Furthermore, they say a bird that sits on a tree for the longest time is calling for a stone. Chiefs are a flop of all time.

Moses Mokoena, Ga Mokwakwaila

Chiefs have themselves to blame for surrendering the league title on the final day. They lacked confidence and Middendorp failed to motivate them in the crucial game against Baroka. The Limpopo side also gave their all to avoid the dreaded play-offs. Chiefs management acted wisely by sacking Middendorp, who
