Pirates target Ivorian striker
Word reaching the Siya crew is that Orlando Pirates are tracking Ivorian striker Sede Junior Dion, with the possibility of bolstering their attack for the 2021/22 season. Indications are that Dion could replace JeanMarc Makusu, who is expected to return to AS Vita Club at the end of the season.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo forward is on loan from AS Vita and has struggled to break into Josef Zinnbauer’s team. Indications are that Bucs won’t extend his stay, and instead are looking at bringing Dion on board to boost their attacking options.
Dion, 22, played against Pirates in the CAF Confederation Cup for Botswana outfit Jwaneng Galaxy, and according to a Siya source, he impressed them with his high workrate.
According to the information made available to the Siya crew, Bucs have already enquired into his availability and indications are that they will have to pay a transfer fee if they pursue their interest further, as the player has got one more year left to run on his existing contract in Botswana.
“Orlando Pirates is interested in Sede Junior Dion from Jwaneng Galaxy
in Botswana. He is the Ivorian striker who is currently playing in Botswana. That one is going to surprise a lot of people in South Africa,” said the source.
“The boy is talented and he was supposed to have gone overseas when he was still with ASEC Mimosas in Côte d’Ivoire, but ASEC wanted a lot of money for him from the European team. That’s how he ended up signing in Botswana after his contract with ASEC ended.
“The boy is still young and has a lot of qualities in him. He is turning 23 years old this year. Pirates is very interested in him,” the source added.
