Lunga agrees to Downs move, clubs to conclude?

-

Word reaching the Siya crew is that Golden Arrows defender Divine Lunga has agreed to make a move to Gauteng to join defending Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns, with the two clubs now expected to conclude the deal.

Lunga, along with teammate Nkosinathi Sibisi, has been a target of Sundowns, who are looking at bolstering their squad for next season.

Despite having a strong squad with the likes of Aubrey Modiba, Lyle Lakay and Tebogo Langerman as left back options, Sundowns are always looking to beef up their squad to ensure they have enough quality to compete both locally and on the African continent.

The 25-year-old Lunga has been identified as one of the players who can add value on the left side for the Brazilians. His experience of playing for the Zimbabwean national team makes him an option that Sundowns believe can come in and make a valuable contribution.

Lunga, who has played 21 matches in all competitions this season, is comfortable in possession of the ball, something the Sundowns technical team is said to be impressed with.

A source close to the club’s dealings explained that Lunga wants the move and has agreed to the deal in principle, adding that the two clubs will be discussing the transfer, and if agreed to, will conclude the move.

Downs, however, will need to reshuffle their foreign quota, should the former Chicken Inn FC defender’s deal materialise. As reported in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, the club has elected to sacrifice Mauricio Affonso for the arrival of Pavol Safranko.

It remains to be seen if Lunga’s deal is concluded and who will make way for him.
