“He’s a box-tobox midfielder and he has the capacity and ability to get forward, score goals. He is creative as a footballer, he’s got a lot of creativity, but he looks to keep things simple and I think obviously he’s in that provisional 40-man squad, but he’s more than that… I think he’ll obviously be selected in the final squad to go to the Olympics. He’s one of the key players, I think, and he has a very, very bright future ahead of him, as long as he stays grounded, the success doesn’t go to his head – I think that’s important for him. But I see him moving to play for Bafana Bafana regularly and possibly one day joining one of the Big Three. I think he has the ability to play in Europe but playing as a box-to-box midfielder more (as) an eight than a six. I think he needs to be more creative in the final third. I think he needs to be scoring more goals, then possibly teams within the bigger leagues in Europe would then be looking at him. I think that is still a part of his game that he needs to get better at, you know – final pass, final third. He needs to be creating more assists that lead to goals and obviously he himself (needs to be) scoring goals and if he does that, then yes, I see him being able to go to Europe because technically, he’s very good. His work ethic and professionalism is also very good, so he doesn’t have a problem there. But the demand in Europe is very, very high and I think that’s the one thing we have here in South Africa, the inability to score goals, not only from strikers but also from wingers and attacking midfielders because that is what they are expected to do in Europe and if they don’t have a scoring record, then it can be difficult for them to get there.”
