Bucs at risk of losing Chabalala?
Orlando Pirates are at risk of losing the services of Justice Chabalala. The defender is left with a little over a month on his existing contract with the Soweto giants, and as things stand, the club hasn’t indicated if his spell will be extended.
In 2019, Pirates exercised the two-year option on the defender’s contract and that deal will be expiring on June 30, and at that time he will have been on the club’s books for five years, although he had been loaned out on three different occasions, to Chippa United and Bloemfontein Celtic respectively.
The player’s representative, Ratshibvumo Mulovhedzi, has confirmed that the 29-year-old centre-back hasn’t yet heard from either Bucs or Siwelele regarding his future.
“With Justice Chabalala nearing the end of his loan deal with Bloemfontein Celtic, I can confirm that the club (Celtic) hasn’t spoken to us. But I can confirm that there’s been interest in the player from other clubs. It’s encouraging that there are clubs showing interest in the player because that shows that he has been doing well,” said Mulovhedzi.
“About the player’s Pirates future, it’s true that his contract will be coming to an end in June, but we are not in a hurry to talk to the club about it and we will wait to hear from Pirates. Pirates will make a decision and we will take it from there,” the representative confirmed.
