Coetzee’s camp to work on overseas move?

-

As confirmed by his agent to the Siya crew recently, Rivaldo Coetzee has penned a new five-year deal at Mamelodi Sundowns.

But Mike Makaab of ProSport International did add that the utility player still has very clear intentions to move abroad in the near future.

With the agency’s network in the European market, this is possible – and the Siya crew understands that a possible move overseas for ‘Riva’ is already in the works.

ProSport International prides itself in having a pedigree that extends beyond the borders of South Africa both in football and other sporting codes.

Coetzee was close to realizing his dream of playing in one of the top leagues in the world when his then club, Ajax Cape Town, announced in August 2017 that there was a deal agreed to in principle for him to join Scottish giants Celtic.

But the deal collapsed as a result of an underlying issue with his right foot, and ‘Riva’ was signed by Sundowns instead, despite the injury concerns.

Makaab has often spoken openly about how Downs gave Coetzee a lifeline when his dream was shattered and some medical opinions suggested he might have to quit the game.

Since then, the player has grown in stature and become a core member of the Tshwane giants’ team, helping them to break records and win league titles.

At 24, however, his agency has not hid the fact that Coetzee is eager to earn a move to Europe, something Siya sources have informed the crew is in the pipeline, though there is no timeline as to when a genuine offer will be presented to the club.

There would have to be a generous sum of money for the Brazilians to accept losing one of their best assets, but there’s no indication at the moment that they would stand in his way.
