SOUL MMETHI ACADEMY
Ex-Dynamos and Bloemfontein Celtic star Soul Mmethi says he’s happy with the progress his 10-month-old academy is making as he ploughs back to his hometown of Mogwase in the North West. Better late than never, he contends, as the initiative was supposed to get off the ground in 2011, if not for his commitments at the time. The academy, which caters for boys and girls, has four divisions: Foundation (U8), U11, U13 and U15, while 16-year-olds play in the senior team campaigning in the LFA league. “This is where we teach these boys mannerisms and all attributes that will lead them on the right path so that they can be better citizens. Some of the kids are from child-headed families. I’m telling you, there’s good players coming out of my academy,” reveals ‘Chippa’, adding that they are soon to use the services of a new stadium. “Rest assured it’s better than the Enoch Mgijima Municipality one, which cost R15 million to build,”
he quips, roaring with laughter.

PALACIOS ACADEMY
Training has already started and registration for 2021 continues for boys and girls between five and 20 years old. Registration takes place every Saturday from 09h00 to 11h00 and Thursday from 15h30 to 17h00 at c/o Church & 10th Ave Dolphin Street in Mayfair.
