Downs’ decision imminent as Ngobeni attracts interest

-

What was initially viewed to b ea dream come true for Sifiso Ngobeni, after the defender signed for Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of last season, has turned out to be a disappointment.

The Mamelodi-born player put pen to paper with the club where he was born, but the 26-year-old has since struggled for game-time, a similar scenario to the likes of Lucky Mohomi and Thokozani Sekotlong. He has made only two appearances, amounting to just under 10 minutes of football.

As reported in edition 1252 of Soccer Laduma, Sundowns are considering sending him out on loan in order to get some regular game-time, and with January transfer window closing in just under a week, the club is believed to be working around the clock to secure a loan move.

After being linked with Chippa United, who are believed to be intereste di n his services, Ngoben ih as also earned himself another suitor in Sekhukhune United, as confirmed by sources in the know.

“Sundowns are keen to send Sifiso Ngobeni on loan and are expected to make a decision on which club they would like him to join, possibly in the coming days,” said a source.

“Sekhukhune United is the latest club to show interest in the player’s services after he was initially linked with Chippa United,” the source added.

Ngobeni is one of the top talents to have emerged in the local game in recent times and was considered one of the best players in the league for his position last season when he made 21 league appearances for Celtic, and it came as no surprise when he was offered a five-year contract by the Brazilians.

He is now looking to get his career back on track.
