PSL duo watch as Nurkovic is linked with Euro return?

-

Samir Nurkovic’s days at Kaizer Chiefs could be numbered, with indications that the player is weighing up his options and trying to score a move that would secure his future.

According to Siya sources, the player is considering a move back to Europe, but sources have indicated that both SuperSport United and AmaZulu FC are watching unfolding developments at Naturena with keen interest and are ready to pounce should the player become available.

The Serbian has suffered a loss of form, which has been compounded by injuries that resulted in his inability to regain the form that characterized his game when he arrived in the country three years ago.

Nurkovic will see his existing contract with Chiefs expire in June, though Amakhosi do have an option in place to extend his spell by a further year.

Insiders, however, have suggested that Chiefs have not indicated if they will trigger the 29-year-old’s option and this could be a sign that he could be part of the expected overhaul.

The Naturena-based outfit’s sporting director, Kaizer Motaung Jnr, recently confirmed to the media that the club is looking to reduce the average age of the team.

In part, Motaung Jnr stated, “We have to reduce the average age of the team. And it’s not just us — if you look at world football and how you can bring the right change, most clubs have had a great balance in youth, and you have to start somewhere.”

Nurkovic will be turning 30 on June 13, which puts him in the club’s firing line. It now remains to be seen if Chiefs are able to cash in on transfer fee or if he will leave on a free.
