Kodisang being sounded out by Chiefs?

-

According to Siya sources, attacker Kobamelo Kodisang is understood to have made it onto Kaizer Chiefs’ radar, with the Soweto giants said to be asking questions about his availability at the end of the season.

The junior international is currently on the books of SC Braga B, the reserve side of the senior team campaigning in the Portuguese topflight called the Primeira Liga. And indications are that he could be open to coming back home depending on his contract status.

Kodisang hasn’t played in the Premier Soccer League since the latter part of 2019, having left the now-defunct Bidvest Wits to join Braga.

In a recent interview with Soccer Laduma, in September last year following his appearance in the Tokyo Olympics with coach David Notoane’s squad,

the 22-year-old admitted that he still wanted to achieve more at the highest level given his age.

Despite murmurs then that he might consider the PSL for a fresh start, the speedy attacking player remained in Europe.

Chiefs, through their sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jnr, have made it clear the club’s intention next season is to sign young players to bring down the average age of the core group under coach Stuart Baxter.

Kodisang is an ideal target that still has huge potential, and familiar with the domestic league following stints at Platinum Stars (also defunct) and Wits.

He has played for the junior national teams from the U17s right up to the U23s, and featured in all three matches against hosts Japan, France and Mexico at the Olympics in Tokyo in the middle of last year, contributing with a goal and an assist.
